The man arrested over the fatal stabbing of a young gym coach is also being questioned over injuring his own relative in the same incident.
Detectives continued to question the suspect, in his 20s, at Tallaght Garda Station last night over the killing of 25-year-old Ademola Giwa in Tallaght, in Dublin on Tuesday.
Former footballer and fitness coach Ademola – also known as Dizzy – was set upon at Mac Uilliam Road and was knifed in the neck.
The innocent man in his 50s who was also injured in the incident as he tried to intervene is a relative of the suspect.
He suffered non-life threatening but serious injuries and is recovering.
The attacker fled after the incident before gardai arrived on the scene.
A man was arrested in Dundalk, Co Louth, on Wednesday after gardai received reports that a man was armed with a knife.
The incident in Tallaght is believed to be linked to a local issue, but gardai are continuing to establish the facts surrounding it.
It is believed there was a row earlier in the evening before the two men clashed later on and Ademola died.
A source said: It seems to be a local issue alright but gardai are continuing to investigate and trying to establish what exactly that is.
Officers are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident which claimed Ademolas life.
The suspect is based in Tallaght and known to gardai.
Locals told us how anti-social behaviour has been increasing in the area while some said they were afraid to let their children play outside.
And following the incident, there has been a hostile atmosphere in the area.
Last night, local Fianna Fail Cllr Charlie OConnor urged for calm in the community as Ademolas family continue to grieve his loss.

Ademola worked as a gym instructor and was a fitness fanatic. He went to St Marks Community School in Tallaght and also previously played football for Marks Celtic.
On social media, they said: You were a pleasure to train with buddy. RIP Ademola.
In another tribute to him, a pal said: He was a really nice guy. We hung out on a few occasions. He never caused trouble anywhere. Its really unfortunate.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe fundraiser set up for Ademolas family has already raised over 2,500.
